Sonia is also a wife of 25 years, and a mother of 6+4+3+3. Being a wife and mother is prioritized in the why of her existence. A former high school history teacher turned Q entrepreneur, she spent nearly 20 years in the traditional classroom before becoming a whistleblower, who stood up to the system when she discovered her boss was misappropriating funds from her program. That experience led to a period of depression and anxiety, and the need to seek medical assistance. Not afraid of being authentic, vulnerable, and unapologetic, Sonia is an advocate for those stuck in an inability to act in their favor to save themselves.
Sonia recently completed one of 5 books she has started over the years, and is officially an author in the process of being published. This book tells the story of 7-year-old Sonia, who decided on her own to not say the Pledge of Allegiance because at 7, she didn’t see liberty and justice for people in her community.
In her spare time, you can find Sonia on the frontlines of many social justice movements and working to change the systemic, institutional, and structural inequities. For over a decade, Sonia has been on a mission to marry equity/humanity work with social justice/cultural shifting of mindsets. At the end of the day, her battle cry is “The Future is Anti-Racist and we all have a part to play.” An Anti-Racism Impact Strategist, who leads a unique team that is intergenerational, Black woman-owned, and family-led….ASCRIBE is more than your usual DEI firm, we are here to get to the heart of centering Equity and Humanity, so to foster the belonging of all.
