Have you ever looked at your life and thought…
“I’m eating healthy. I’m exercising. I’m trying so hard…so why don’t I actually feel healthy?”
If you’ve ever felt exhausted despite checking all the boxes, you’re not alone.
In this episode of the Secrets of Supermom Show, I’m joined by nutrition coach, personal trainer, and founder of Metabolic Fix, Ashley Fillmore, to unpack why so many women are doing everything they think they’re supposed to do—and still feel stuck.
Ashley has walked this road herself. After years of restrictive dieting, overexercising, and struggling with hormone imbalances, she realized that chasing perfection wasn’t creating health—it was stealing it.
Now she helps women, especially those over 35, build sustainable habits that support their metabolism, hormones, and overall well-being without living on another restrictive diet.

Show Notes: You’re Trying So Hard to Be Healthy… But Is It Actually Working?
Hey, hey friend! Welcome to Episode #308 of The Secrets of Supermom Show!
One of my favorite parts of this conversation was Ashley’s reminder that many of us have fallen into habits that look healthy from the outside but aren’t actually serving us anymore.
Maybe you’re:
- Working out six or seven days a week because you think more is better.
- Cutting out entire food groups because social media told you to.
- Eating less and less hoping the scale will finally move.
- Ignoring constant fatigue because you think that’s just what motherhood feels like.
Ashley encourages us to stop and ask one simple question:
“Why am I doing this?”
If you don’t know why you’re following a particular health rule, it may be time to rethink it.
Your Body Is Always Talking to You
As busy moms, we’re incredibly good at pushing through.
We ignore the exhaustion.
We brush aside the brain fog.
We convince ourselves the afternoon energy crash is normal.
We tell ourselves we’ll take care of our health when life slows down.
But as Ashley explains, those are all forms of feedback.
Our bodies are constantly communicating with us through our energy levels, sleep, mood, recovery, digestion, and even our menstrual cycles.
Instead of ignoring those signals, we need to become curious about them.

Why One-Size-Fits-All Health Advice Doesn’t Work
One of the biggest takeaways from this episode is that the same plan doesn’t work for everyone.
The workout routine that served you in your twenties may not be what your body needs today.
The nutrition plan your friend swears by may not support your metabolism.
Social media loves quick fixes, but sustainable health requires a personalized approach.
Ashley reminds us that success isn’t about doing more.
It’s about doing what your body actually needs.
Investing in Yourself Isn’t Selfish
We also had an honest conversation about something I know so many moms struggle with: investing in themselves.
It’s easy to buy things for our kids.
It’s easy to say yes to everyone else.
But when it comes to spending time, energy, or money on our own health, we suddenly hesitate.
Ashley shares why working with a coach can remove so much of the confusion and overwhelm, allowing you to focus less on figuring everything out and more on simply showing up consistently.
And I couldn’t agree more.
I’ve worked with my own strength coach for years, and that investment has allowed me to become stronger, healthier, and more confident than I ever could have on my own.
Sometimes the greatest investment we can make for our families is taking care of the person they rely on most.
