Show Notes: Reach Your Goals

Today, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Kim Rogne, a high-performance coach, motivational speaker, and passionate advocate for working moms. Kim shared her transformative PRP Model, which helps women reframe their mindset, redefine reality, and unlock their full potential. Whether you’re balancing a career, a family, or both, her insights will leave you inspired to make small but meaningful changes in your life.

Let’s dive into the secrets Kim shared, along with practical tips to help you get started today!

What is the PRP Model?

The PRP Model stands for Perception = Reality = Potential. According to Kim, the way we perceive ourselves directly influences our reality, which then determines how much of our potential we believe we can reach. Here’s how it works:

  1. Perception: We have around 60,000 thoughts a day, and sadly, 75% of those are negative. Thoughts like, “I’m not good enough” or “I don’t have the skills” cloud our perception of ourselves.
  2. Reality: These negative perceptions shape how we see our lives and limit what we think is possible.
  3. Potential: When our reality feels constrained by negative self-talk, we struggle to see and reach our full potential.

Kim emphasizes that while we can’t always control our first thought, we can control the second. This simple mindset shift can help you break the cycle of negativity and begin to rewire your brain for success.

Why the PRP Model Works

The PRP Model is grounded in science and personal experience. Kim shared how consistent journaling helped her build a six-figure business from scratch and even inspired her friend battling ALS to focus on mindset work. Her daily journaling habit, which takes just five minutes, became the foundation of her success and her clients’ transformations.

Applying the PRP Model to Your Goals

At the start of the year, many of us feel like our goals are far from achievable. According to Kim, this disconnect often comes from a perception that we’re not capable of achieving them. She offers a simple approach to bridge the gap:

  1. Assess Your Life as a Whole: Kim coaches women to evaluate nine “arenas” of life, including emotional health, physical health, family, work, finances, and more. Rate each area on a scale of 1 to 10 to see where you stand.
  2. Focus on Small Steps: Instead of jumping from a 5 to a 10 in one area, ask yourself, “What would it take to move from a 5 to a 5.5?” Small, achievable changes make progress feel possible.
  3. Set Weekly “Big Rocks”: Each week, identify three big priorities that align with your goals across all areas of life—not just work. By focusing on what truly matters, you can move forward intentionally without overwhelm.

Redefining Balance for Working Moms

Kim believes in redefining balance as it relates to your current life phase. She shared this powerful quote:

“There’s no such thing as work-life balance. There are work-life choices, and you make them. Those choices have consequences.”

Balance isn’t about perfection—it’s about understanding your priorities, asking for help, and letting go of the unrealistic standards we often impose on ourselves.

Kim’s advice? Start delegating! Treat your home like a business, and let others take on responsibilities. Whether it’s teaching your kids to pack their lunches or asking your partner to handle chores, giving up control can reduce stress and give you more time for the things that matter most.

Small Steps, Big Changes: A Simple Strategy to Reach Your Goals with Kim Rogne

Key Takeaways from the Episode

  1. Change Starts with Mindset: Reframing negative thoughts into positive ones can transform your perception, reality, and potential.
  2. Small Steps Add Up: Focus on incremental improvements rather than massive leaps to avoid burnout and frustration.
  3. Balance Is Personal: Define what balance means for you, based on your life phase and priorities, instead of comparing yourself to others.
  4. Ask for Help: Whether it’s delegating tasks at home or outsourcing small errands, you don’t have to do it all alone.

A Small Step to Get Started Today

Kim’s advice for busy moms? Don’t do the next task yourself—delegate it. Look at your to-do list and find one thing someone else can help with. For example, hire a teenager to stock your fridge before you get back from vacation or ask a family member to run an errand.
